On July 28th, 2004 the album was certified platinum in the United States. In the UK, the album debuted at number 65 on the UK Albums Chart. It was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 500,000 copies in the United States. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 selling 246,000 copies in its first week. The singles include “Why” featuring Anthony Hamilton) which peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 4 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and “U Make Me Wanna” featuring Mariah Carey) which peaked at number 21 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 8 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The album’s singles charted successfully. on the Jand debuted at number one on both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. It is the follow-up to his 2001 gold-RIAA selling debut album “Kiss tha Game Goodbye”. There’s not much more that we can ask for.“Kiss of Death” is the second album by American rapper Jadakiss. It may have taken 3 years, but Jadakiss is back out with an album that is worthy of his name. “Yo, as far as the industry goes/Everybody’s a foe/Only a friend when they want you to flow.” His lyrics pack an even stronger punch, and show that he is aware of how artists are treated. His vocals hit like a hammer, strong, blunt, and in your face. Jadakiss’ voice has been heard on so many singles it’s not funny, and finally the public gets a chance to hear him again. Many of the tracks on Kiss are very simple, which let Jadakiss’ vocal stylings shine. The beats are fresh and original, thanks in no small part to the production of DJ Green Lantern, Black Key, and Jelly Roll. With a guest roster as long as his chain, Jadakiss is kicking as hard and aggressive as ever. Apparently, that time was well spent, because Jadakiss hits as hard and aggressive as ever. Here we are though, 2004, and Jadakiss has dropped his second album, Kiss Of Death, to rabid fans everywhere. What is weird, and almost suicidal in an industry so volatile, is waiting 3 years to get the next album out. Over the following years, he has appeared as a guest mc on many groundbreaking and influential albums. While it didn’t hit platinum, it did show Jadakiss’ talent and prowess. His solo debut in 2001 was a strong introduction to his style, flow, and skill. If anyone would be considered an enigma in hip-hop, it would more than likely be Jadakiss.
